Mystery Southwest Florida Couple in Proposal Photo Found

The mystery couple from a romantic marriage proposal caught on camera by a complete stranger are a mystery no more thanks to the magic of social media, NBC affiliate WBBH reports.

Ivan Seligman said he was rushing to dinner Monday evening when he stopped to check the low battery on his camera. At that moment, he glanced across the street and spotted a man on his knees midway through a romantic marriage proposal.

Seligman said he had "goose bumps" watching the proposal unfolding, so he quickly snapped a photo, shouted "congratulations" and rushed off to dinner.

The photographer told WBBH that he initially assumed the photo would come out blurry. Later that night, however, he zoomed in on the two people and saw something completely different.

“Oh my God," he exclaimed. "Look at this picture of adoration and love on his eyes and her total surprise.”

He reached out to WBBH for help in finding the couple.

In less than 30 minutes after posting the photo to their Facebook page Tuesday, users helped WBBH identify the happy couple as Lauren Ferrara and Joey Schaefer.

Schaefer said he originally planned to propose to Ferrara on the beach, but instead decided to just go for it on the sidewalk.

WBBH arranged for a surprise meeting between Seligman and the happy bride-to-be at her job where she exclaimed, "You're the guy that took the picture!"

Seligman has offered his photography services once again to the couple, saying he'd like to be a "second shooter" at their wedding, capturing candid photos.

"You're going to make me cry," Ferrara said in response.
