NASCAR's Top Driver Testifies In “Dancing” Driver's Tax Trial

Jimmie Johnson speeds to the aid of Helio Castroneves by testifying in front of a federal judge

Jimmie Johnson has yet to meet Helio Castroneves on the track but the NASCAR champion came to his fellow driver's aid Monday during Castroneves' federal tax evasion trial.

Johnson and Castroneves share the same attorney, Alan Miller, who is also charged with helping Castroneves hide over $5.5 million from Uncle Sam to avoid heavy taxation.

Johnson, who was nothing more than a character witness, testified how swell a guy he thought Miller was and how Miller has built a reputation as an honest attorney among those in the racing world.

The words "honest" and "attorney" usually aren't recommended to be used in the same sentence, especially when under oath, but the words might resonate coming from the squeaky clean image of Johnson.

The prosecution rested earlier in the day and Johnson was the defense's first witness.

It's still unclear if "Dancing with the Stars" champion Castroneves, who is also a two-time Indy 500 champ, will take the stand in his own defense.
