16-Year-Old Arrested After Woman Fatally Shot in Miami

A 16-year-old was arrested on a murder charge in the shooting death of a woman back in December as police say they're searching for a second suspect.

The teen, who is from Miami, faces a charge of second-degree murder with a weapon in connection with the Dec. 26 fatal shooting of 31-year-old Dyenette Early at 2100 Northwest 62nd Street, the Miami-Dade Police Department said Tuesday.

According to authorities, Early was sitting outside an apartment with several people when shots were fired and she was struck. She was transported to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Surveillance video captured three males exiting a vehicle and two of them opening fire on the victim. Police were able to identify and locate one of the subjects through the video.

"My sister wasn't a problem person. She lived for her kids and worked for her kids," sister Lanette Early told NBC 6. "That's a nightmare, the holidays will never be the same, Christmas will never be the same. We want justice."

The mother of the teen appeared in juvenile court Wednesday, where a judge told her prosecutors plan to charge her son as an adult.

Investigators are still looking to the other subject, who is considered armed and dangerous and is seen in surveillance wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
