No Charges for Mom Connected to Toddler's Hot Car Death

Prosecutors say they won't charge a Florida Panhandle teacher connected to her toddler daughter's hot car death.

The State Attorney's Office sent a letter to the Bay County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday explaining that a tragic event is not necessarily a criminal event.

State Attorney Glenn Hess wrote that sometimes bad things happen to good people who are doing good things.

Authorities say Jamie Buckley forgot that her 2-year-old daughter, Reagan, was in the back of her car before heading into Cedar Grove Elementary School the morning of June 2. The child was still in her car seat when Buckley returned to the vehicle that afternoon.

The Panama City News Herald reports that deputies arrived and found the child unresponsive. The child was also pronounced dead at the scene.
