No Snitch is No Help In Murder Investigation

Few clues have surfaced in the death of 15-year-old Sabrina O'Neil

The 'no-snitch' phenomenon may be slowing the pace of the murder investigation focused on a 15-year-old girl. On January 31, somebody killed Sabrina O’Neil in a drive-by shooting. Now her family and the lead detective on the case are appealing to the public for help.

“It’s sad,” said Sabrina’s mother, Tavronia Reddick. “They took my little girl from me, we just had a party Saturday and had fun, the next day she's gone.”

Sabrina’s sister, Monique Colson, is also devastated.

“She means everything to me and it would mean everything in the world if the person who did it just came forward,” she said.

The shooting happened on a Sunday evening at the Annie Coleman apartment complex on northwest 52nd street and 21st avenue in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood.

The suspects used an AK-47 and a shotgun - they drove by in a silver or gray car and sprayed the area with bullets. Four people were hit, three survived. Sabrina, just 15 years old, died.

“So young, she hadn't bothered anybody, just an innocent bystander,” said detective Michael Bracci with the Miami-Dade Police Department.

He said he's received some leads, but none have panned out. Sabrina's mom isn’t looking for a snitch - just somebody with a conscience.

“Whoever did this, they need to come forward and turn themselves in,” said Reddick. “Because if they have kids they wouldn’t want this to happen to their kids.”

Police are looking for four suspects. Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to a conviction. To reach Crimestoppers in Miami-Dade County, call 305-471-TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
