Nurse Technician Arrested For Sexual Battery on Patient at Kendall Hospital: Cops

Luis Alfonso Lucero, 37, sexually assaulted a woman at Kendall Regional Medical Center Aug. 2, police said

A Hialeah man has been charged with sexual battery after he sexually assaulted a female patient under his care while working as a nurse technician earlier this month, police said.

Miami-Dade Police said its sexual crimes unit arrested Luis Alfonso Lucero, 37, a nurse technician at Kendall Regional Medical Center.

He assaulted the victim while she was a patient at the Kendall hospital on Aug. 2, police said.

The woman was suffering from alcohol poisoning, and was placed in medical care under the Baker Act out of concern that she might herself or others, a police affidavit said.

It was not immediately known whether Lucero has an attorney.

The news of Lucero’s arrest shocked Carlos Alfaro, the manager of his Hialeah apartment building.

Alfaro told Telemundo 51 in Spanish that he has only known Lucero for a year, and that he lives in peace with his son, and pays his rent on time.

“I would feel very scared,” said neighbor Yaumarys Paz at the Hialeah apartment complex. “I think the hospital should have better security.”
