Man Stole Money From Gas Station While Applying for Job: Cops

Anthony Dwayne Thomas, 33, was arrested by the Ocala Police Department Tuesday morning for stealing money from Martin Oil after applying for a job there and leaving the application, police said.

A Florida man was arrested for stealing money from a gas station as he filled out a job application form, police said.

Anthony Dwayne Thomas, 33, was arrested by the Ocala Police Department Tuesday morning for stealing money from Martin Oil after applying for a job there and leaving the application, police said.

The gas station clerk told police that Thomas was standing at the counter filling out an an employment application. While at the counter, Thomas reached into a drawer, took out cash and ran away, leaving the application behind, police said.

Police officers searched the area. Thomas was found a few blocks away, police said. He resisted arrest and ran away again. After a short pursuit, he was caught, and the stolen cash was found in his pockets, police said.

Thomas was charged with burglary, petit theft and resisting arrest with violence. He is currently in jail being held on bonds totaling $8,500, according to online jail records. It was not immediately known if he had an attorney.
