An officer from Bay Harbor Islands is out of the hospital after he was involved in an early morning crash in Northeast Miami-Dade.

Rescue crews arrived at the scene neat Northeast 125th Street and 9th Avenue just before 6 a.m., where the officer’s vehicle was hit by another car that turned in front of it, causing the police car to hit a pole before coming to a stop near a Chase Bank branch location.

The officer, identified as Lt. Luis Hormilla, and a second person were taken to the hospital. Hormilla, a 20-year veteran of the department, was treated and released while officials have not released information on the second person's condition.
