Miami Police Officer Recovering After Being Stabbed in the Face

A City of Miami police officer was recovering in the hospital after being stabbed in the face at a casino early Thursday.

The incident happened just after midnight at the Magic City Casino in Miami. Police said a disgruntled customer was inside the casino and officers responded to remove him.

According to police, a struggle ensued between police and the customer. The officer then shot the customer, police said.

The customer, who has not yet been identified, was at the hospital undergoing surgery. The officer received stitches for his injuries and was released from the hospital.

"I did talk to him last night, I visited him in the hospital," Police Chief Rodolfo Llanes said. "He was doing well last night, I'm sure he is doing better now that he is at home. He has a little bit of a recovery to go but he will be fine."

The customer's condition is unknown at this time. He is expected to face charges after his release from the hospital.
