Olympic Medal Predictions Spotlight Several Floridians

Sports Illustrated released their Olympic medal picks

In its most recent edition, Sports Illustrated Magazine released a list of medal predictions for the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Among those slated to medal were a slew of local athletes including swimming sensation Ryan Lochte and the Williams sisters.

Sports Illustrated projected the medal count for the U.S. to be 42 gold medals, 26 silver medals and 31 bronze medals.

The following medal predictions were made for Floridian athletes:

LeBron James is predicted to take gold as part of the U.S. men’s basketball team.

Zach Railey is predicted to take bronze in heavyweight dinghy sailing.

Anna Tunnicliffe is predicted to take gold in sailing in the fixed keel, match race.

Abby Wambach is expected to take gold for women’s soccer.

Ryan Lochte is predicted to take gold in 200 meter freestyle, gold the 200 meter backstroke, silver in 200m individual medley and gold in 400 meter individual medley where he is expected to beat out Michael Phelps.

Serena Williams is predicted to take gold in women’s tennis singles. Williams together with her sister, Venus, were also picked to take gold in women’s tennis doubles.

Justin Gatlin is predicted to take bronze in 100 meter race.

Tony McQuay is predicted to take bronze in the 400 meter race.

Sanya Richards-Ross is predicted to take gold in the 400 meter race.

Kellie Wells is expected to take bronze in the 100 meter hurdles.

Phil Dalhausser together with Todd Rogers are expected to take gold in beach volleyball.
