One person is dead after a wrong way crash on I-95 just north of Sunrise Boulevard.
Police identified the victim as 24-year-old Gerard S. Ellis, of Hollywood. An investigation is pending.
Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash just after 3 a.m. Saturday. The department initially received a call about a vehicle traveling northbound on the southbound lanes, but arrived on the scene just after the crash happened.
Deputies say one of the cars burst into flames before the accident. The person in the vehicle the caught fire was pronounced dead on the scene, officers said. The other was transported to Broward Health with serious injuries.
Officials are currently investigating the crash.
