Police Investigate Deadly Miami-Dade Weekend Shooting

A 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the shooting site, and a wounded 40-year-old man was taken to Ryder Trauma Center

Miami-Dade police are investigating a weekend dispute that left one man dead and another wounded, officials said early Saturday.

Police received reports of the shooting about 8:11 p.m. Friday in the 1700 block of Northwest 92nd Street. A 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the shooting site, and a wounded 40-year-old man was taken to Ryder Trauma Center, police said.

"It appears that there was a dispute that escalated and shots were fired," said Miami-Dade police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta.

According to investigators, several people were involved in a dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation.  When several shots were fired, the two men were struck. The victims’ names haven’t been released.

"First we heard about two shots, then afterwards we heard about six,” said Mary Moss, who was in the area.

As of Sunday, no arrests had been made.
