“Operation Bad Karma” Nets 22 Suspects in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale Police arrested 22 people Wednesday in a massive crime sweep dubbed "Operation Bad Karma".

Police Chief Frank Adderley said the sting was all in effort to clean up a crime-ridden neighborhood.

Officials released the mugshots of 13 of the 22 suspects in custody for crimes ranging from racketeering and drug trafficking.

NBC 6 was the only news station at the scene Wednesday morning as detectives conducted a search warrant in one area plagued by crime.

The neighborhood in which officers were working in is located between northeast 4th avenue west to northwest 9th avenue from Sunrise north to Wilton Manors.

Fort Lauderdale Police partnered with the U.S. Marshals Office and the Broward State Attorney's Office in "Operation Bad Karma".

Authorities say in addition to the racketeering and drug charges, they are investigating whether the suspects arrested Wednesday are connected to at least three murders in the area that date back to January.
