Pair Arrested After Stolen Car Crashes Into Homestead House

Two men are facing charges after a stolen car crashed into a Homestead house during a brief chase Thursday, police said.

Oscar Guajardo, 18, and Roberto Aldama, 22, were arrested on multiple charges after the car crashed into the home in the 1700 block of Northwest 8th Avenue, Homestead Police said.

Guajardo was charged with grand theft auto, fleeing police, resisting an officer with violence and cocaine possession. Aldama was charged with Burglary of an unoccupied structure and trespassing.

Guajardo was being held on $20,500 bond late Thursday, jail records showed. Aldama was being held on $6,000 bond. No attorney information was immediately available.

Police said the stolen car was spotted and when an officer tried to stop it, the driver, Guajardo, refused to stop. A short pursuit happened and the car lost control, possibly due to rain.

The car crashed into another vehicle in the home's driveway before hitting the house. Both suspects bailed out but were found a short time later after a perimeter was set up, police said.

A firearm was found inside the car and cocaine was found on Guajardo, police said. The car, which was stolen in Kendall, was a total loss, but no structural damage was done to the home, police said.
