Pair Charged in Shooting Death of Friend: Boca Raton Police

Erin Steele, 20, and Joshua Henry, 23, are both facing charges of manslaughter by culpable negligence in the Dec. 1 shooting of Justin Holt

More than two months after a man was shot and killed under strange circumstances while he was hanging out with friends in Boca Raton, police say they've charged two of those friends in his death.

Erin Steele, 20, and Joshua Henry, 23, are both facing charges of manslaughter by culpable negligence in the Dec. 1 shooting of Justin Holt, Boca Raton Police said Friday.

According to police, Henry and another friend were at an apartment at the Gables of Town Place Apartments at 21445 Town Lakes Drive when Steele, Holt and another friend came over to hang out.

Henry had brought a handgun with him and was showing it off and allowing his friends to fire the empty pistol, police said.

At one point, Henry re-loaded the gun and left it on a counter. Later that night, Steele picked up the gun and fired it at Holt, police said.  Holt was taken to Delray Medical Center where he later died.

Police said Steele had smoked marijuana earlier in the evening and had a high level of THC in her system.

Henry and Steele, both of Pompano Beach, were being held without bond in the Broward Jail Friday. It was unknown whether they have attorneys.
