Two men are facing charges after police say they stole dozens of cellphones from attendees of the Life in Color festival in Miami Sunday.
Yoarky Wilson-Ordonez, 43, and Luis Jesus Hernandez, 51, are facing multiple counts of grand theft and failure to report lost or abandoned property, according to arrest reports and jail records.
According to the reports, the pair pickpocketed several people at the Life in Color event at Mana Wynwood, a music festival that bills itself the "world's largest paint party."
Police said several people came forward and said they had felt someone grabbing or touching their bags, and later found the bag slashed or open and their phone missing.
Officers who were at the event spotted Wilson-Ordonez and Hernandez, who matched the descriptions of the pickpocketers, the reports said.
"Both defendants had colored paint on their hair and clothing which shows me that they were inside the events," an officer wrote in the report.
Hernandez quickly tossed a bag and tried to run away, but was taken into custody, the reports said. Wilson-Ordonez also had a bag under his jacket that contained several phones, the reports said.
A total of 61 phones of different models were found on the pair, the reports said. The victims later identified the suspects as the men they saw touching their bags, the reports said.
Both men were being held on $77,000 bond each Tuesday. Attorney information wasn't available.
