Palm Beach County Man Sold Over 40 Gallons of Moonshine to Undercover Agents: Authorities

Daniel Pawa, 23, responded to a Craigslist ad, the Sun Sentinel reported

A Lantana man was arrested after he sold over 40 gallons of moonshine to undercover agents over a few months, authorities said.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reported that Daniel Pawa, 23, who was arrested Thursday, responded to a Nov. 13 Craigslist ad that was posted by a Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco agent.

"Looking for some strong moonshine," the ad said. "If you got some of the strong stuff, shoot me a text."

A middleman for Pawa contacted the agent and referred him to Pawa, who subsequently sold over 40 gallons of moonshine – highly potent alcohol that is usually homemade – to undercover state beverage agents, according to an arrest report.

Agents also seized a .45-caliber firearm from him, the Sun Sentinel reported, so he faces one count of possession of a firearm, the sheriff’s office records said.

Pawa posted bond and was released from jail Friday afternoon, the records said. It was not immediately known whether he has an attorney.
