Panthers Fall to Jets in Shootout

The Panthers picked up a point with their 4-3 shootout loss to the Jets on Thursday

The Florida Panthers fell by a final score of 4-3 in a shootout against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.

The shootout was a long one, with the Jets finding the net in the sixth round. With the loss, Florida is now 13-13-5 on the season with 31 points.

After Winnipeg took the lead late into the first period, Florida tied the game early in the second. Aleksander Barkov's seventh score of the season came during a power play and had assists on it from Nick Bjugstad and Jaromir Jagr.

During another power play later in the second period, Reilly Smith made it a 2-1 game with his fifth goal of the season. Seth Griffith and Keith Yandle both assisted on Smith's go-ahead goal.

The power play goal theme continued after the Jets tied the game back up. Vincent Trocheck's eighth goal of the season had assists from Aaron Ekblad and Smith on it. The power play score put Florida back on top by a goal during the second period.

After exiting a blowout loss early his last time out, Roberto Luongo was better in the net in this one. The goalie ended up with 29 saves on his 32 attempts. In the last loss, Luongo allowed s season-high five goals.

The road trip will come to a close on Friday in Colorado with a game against the Avalanche.
