Panthers Rally With Two Goals in Third Period

The Panthers scored twice in the third period on Friday for a 3-2 win over the Ottawa Senators

Trailing by a goal entering the final period on Friday, the Florida Panthers rallied back for a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators.

The Panthers were without the services of Roberto Luongo who suffered an upper body injury in their previous game. Luongo is not expected to miss much time and is considered day-to-day at this point. Without Luongo available, Florida turned to Al Montoya for Friday's game.

Montoya did a solid job filling in for Luongo as he did on Wednesday after the starting goaltender left with the injury. Montoya saved 22 of the 24 chances he had in this one and has now allowed five goals in his last 81 chances overall.

Dylan Olsen's first goal of the year was also the first goal of this game for Florida and came during the first period. Vincent Trocheck was credited with the assist on Olsen's goal that tied the game at one at the time.

With Florida down 2-1, Sean Bergenheim put his third goal of the season into the net after only 34 seconds of play in the third period. Brad Boyes and Aleksander Barkov each got an assist on the game-tying goal.

Just under seven minutes later, Jimmy Hayes scored the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal. It was the fifth goal of the year for Hayes and it was assisted on by Trocheck and Tomas Fleischmann.

Besides Luongo, Colby Robak was also scratched while Jussi Jokinen felt ill and missed the game.

The Panthers will take the weekend off before heading to Columbus for a game with the Blue Jackets on Monday.
