The Florida Panthers re-signed forward Jared McCann to a two-year one-way contract on Sunday.
Florida offered a qualifying offer to McCann recently and did not disclose the financial aspects of this new pact.
"Jared is a versatile two-way centerman who possesses excellent speed and suits our team well," said Florida President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Dale Tallon. "He has improved his game during his time with our organization and we look forward to him taking the next step in his development with the Panthers."
McCann is only 22 and represents a significant piece of Florida's future. McCann appeared in 68 games last season and posted a career-high in points with 28. McCann put together 19 assists along the way, setting another career-high. In his 166 career NHL games, McCann has 53 points overall.
McCann's successful season also included some clutch moments for the team. McCann had four game-winning goals during the 2017-18 season, making the most of his 13:15 average for ice-time.
The Panthers also came to terms with Frank Vatrano on a one-year contract in the past week and still have a few outstanding qualifying offers. Alexander Petrovic, MacKenzie Weegar and Curtis Valk have all received offers from the team.
