Patients at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital were given the gift of music on Wednesday, as a local karaoke company donated 25 of their new sing-along products to fill two outpatient and three in-patient playrooms at the Hollywood hospital. During an interactive ceremony at 11 a.m., The Singing Machine Co. donated classic karaoke products to the hospital’s patients and teen centers. Additionally, Joe DiMaggio Music Therapist Stephanie Miller received a special karaoke machine to work one-on-one with children receiving care. Singing has several health benefits and can help in key areas of development, such as language development, brain and body development and overall wellness, according to a news release.
