Pedestrian Killed on I-95 Hit-and-Run: Florida Highway Patrol

A pedestrian was struck and killed on the northbound lanes of I-95 near State Road 820 Wednesday night, a Florida Highway Patrol spokesman said.

The crash happened at around 2 a.m. The driver had just parked his car on the right shoulder when he attempted to cross I-95 and was struck by another passing vehicle, according to the FHP.

Pierre Fortin, 49, was pronounced dead, FHP spokesman Lieutenant Yanko Reyes said.

Police said the driver that struck Fortin fled without stopping to help or call 911.

The interstate’s right lanes were closed while detectives investigated, but they have since reopened.

Anyone with information should call Florida Highway Patrol detectives.
