A man is behind bars after the alleged shooting death of his girlfriend early Tuesday morning.
Lauderhill Police identified the suspect as 26-year-old Yohaniz Ceballos Palomino Tuesday afternoon. Police said they arrested and charged Palomino with second-degree murder.
Police said it was a domestic incident, but have not yet released the victim's name. They said Palomino and the victim had been living together as a couple for the last four to five months at 5200 NW 16th Street, where the shooting took place.
One neighbor, who lives in the building where the shooting took place, said his girlfriend heard a fight take place right before the incident. A woman lives in the apartment with her three young children and has a boyfriend who visits frequently, the neighbor said.
Another neighbor said he saw police carry a baby out of the apartment.
"The baby looked like it was traumatized or something,” Ricardo Holness said.
