Pilot Killed in Florida Panhandle Plane Crash

The small plane appeared to be heading to North Palm Beach, officials said

The pilot of a small plane is dead after his single-engine aircraft went down in a remote part of the Florida Panhandle.

The Bay County Sheriff's Office told The News Herald of Panama City that 52-year-old Larry Eli Caison was killed when his Raytheon G-36 aircraft went down in a heavily wooded and remote area of Bay County.

The plane went down Wednesday around 7:30 a.m.

Officials said it appears the plane was en route to Destin from North Palm Beach.

The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been called to investigate.
