Pitbull Lends Private Plane to Rescue Cancer Patients From Puerto Rico

Another South Florida celeb is joining the growing list of public figures offering personal aid to Puerto Rico in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria: Pitbull.

The Miami-based rapper is reportedly sending his private plane to the hurricane-thrashed island to transport cancer patients back to the U.S. to receive their chemotherapy treatments.

Resident Commissioner Jenniffer Gonzalez took to Twitter to thank the star for his compassionate act.

"Thanks to singer @Pitbull for lending his private plane to transport cancer patients from Puerto Rico to the United States so they can take chemo," Gonzalez said in a translated tweet.

Pitbull hasn't shared his good deed on social media but did tell E! News, "Thank God we're blessed to help. Just doing my part."

Earlier Tuesday, as NBC DFW reported, Puerto Rico native JJ Barea of the Dallas Mavericks said that team owner Mark Cuban had loaned him the team's private plane so he and some other friends from Puerto Rico could deliver relief supplies to the island.

NBC late night host and comedian Jimmy Fallon also lent a helping hand to recovery efforts, donating $20,000 to the "Students With Puerto Rico" campaign, NBC Philadelphia reported.

And earlier this week, Puerto Rican superstar Jennifer Lopez pledged $1 million of the proceeds from her Las Vegas show to help residents on the island.
