Plane Crash Lands in Canal in South Miami-Dade

No one injured in afternoon plane crash

A small plane is submerged under water after the pilot was forced to crash land in a canal in South Miami-Dade on Wednesday.

The Cessna 172 was trying to make it to Miami International Airport when the unidentified pilot radioed that it was running out of fuel. Moments later, at around 2 p.m., the plane went down in a canal near Paradise Point.

It appears the pilot and two passengers were on board and they got out alive.

A silhouette of the plane could be seen from over head helicopter shots under water.

The plane is registered to a Homestead company, L & W Aircraft Investment LLC.
