Plantation Mother's Creations Become Thriving Business

The Art Tags are sold at Macy's and Bloomingdale's around the country.

A Plantation mother has turned an arts and crafts hobby into a financial success. Her P.J. Art Tag creations are now being sold in major department stores.

Three years ago, Jodi Crespi decorated a military dog tag for her friend.

"I took my kids' glitter glue and some old trinkets and put in on there," Crespi said. "She wore it and people loved it."

New York City store employees loved the creation too. When the Art Tag caught the eye of a store manager, word quickly traveled to a designer, who turned Crespi's hobby into a thriving business.

The Art Tags are sold at Macy's and Bloomingdale's around the country.

They are also sold in Brazil, France and at local boutiques where Crespi likes to interact with customers.

"I really get to know my customers and it makes what I do so much greater," Crespi said.

Since hitting it big, Crespi has hired two other women to help her keep up with demand.

On Thursday, Footprints of Plantation only had five left. A customer at Macy's in Aventura left the store with three.

With every single Art Tag featuring a different theme and design, Crespi sloganed her business "Just like chips...you can't have just one."
