Police Arrest Man Allegedly Behind Wheel During Deadly 2017 Crash at Lauderhill Bus Stop

Police arrested the man they say was driving a car that crashed into a bus bench in Lauderhill last June, killing one person and injuring nearly a dozen more.

Andrew Wallace was taken into custody Friday, as the 23-year-old was charged with one count of vehicular homicide and a total of 13 counts of reckless driving, including two causing serious injury.

According to police, Wallace was driving a gray Acura TL along State Road 7 southbound on June 8, 2017 when he allegedly began drag racing down with another vehicle.

Surveillance video captured the moments when that car driven by Wallace plowed into the bench, killing Helanie Elize while injuring Elsaine Tulisse and four others who were hospitalized.

Five other victims were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Police are still looking for the second car involved in the alleged drag racing, described as a red Dodge Neon SRT with Florida license plate number HGKS80. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward CrimeStoppers.
