Missing Sunrise Woman's Husband Arrested in Connection With Her Murder

The husband of a Sunrise woman who disappeared last month was arrested Friday and accused of her murder, police said.

Joseph Edward Traeger, 50, of Sunrise, was arrested Thursday after confessing to police that he killed Jeneen Ann Catanzaro, according to an arrest affidavit.

Catanzaro was last seen at her home in Sunrise on November 28, authorities said.

Authorities say at the time of her disappearance, Traeger lied to police and reported her missing four days after she disappeared.

According to the arrest form, when Traeger was questioned as to why he did not call police earlier, his response was "I'm not the cop-calling type."

Authorities also say Traeger said he thought Catanzaro had a seizure and fell to the floor, causing her to sustain a fatal injury to the head.

Traeger later told investigators they were arguing in the kitchen and he took a knife and stabbed her once in the back of the head at the base of the skull.

Traeger told police he and Catanzaro have been married for over 10 years but have been having marital problems due to his heroin addiction and other financial problems.

Traeger faces charges of murder, knowingly giving false info to law enforcement and tampering with or fabricating physical evidence, according to jail records. It's unclear if he has an attorney.
