Police Body Camera Shows Man Shot With Taser During Miami Beach Traffic Stop

A Miami Beach Police officer's body camera was recording when a cop used a Taser on a man during a traffic stop last month.

The video, obtained by 940 WINZ talk show host Andy Slater, shows 26-year-old Bellande Jean Joseph get Tasered and arrested during the August 11 traffic stop.

According to a Miami Beach Police arrest report, Joseph was the passenger in a car that was pulled over at 10th Street and Collins Avenue for making an improper U-turn.

As one officer was writing up a citation, Joseph closed the car's passenger door, and an officer told him to keep it open. In the video, Joseph is heard asking "for what?" and an officer responds "For what? Step out of the car actually."

When Joseph refuses to get out of the car, an officer pulls out a Taser and points it at Joseph.

"For what I gotta step out for?" Joseph repeatedly asks as the officers command him to step out of the car.

"It's gonna hurt like hell," an officer says as the Taser is pointed at Joseph.

An officer wrote in the report that Joseph "became highly agitated at my verbal commands." When an officer grabbed Joseph's wrist to get him out of the car a struggle ensued and Joseph " intentionally pushed me away with both of his fists clenched," the officer wrote.

The woman who was driving the car is heard pleading with officers as the situation escalates and Joseph continues to refuse to get out of the car.

When Joseph continued to refuse to get out of the car the officer used the Taser on him for a 5-second cycle, the report said. Joseph was then taken into custody and brought to a hospital where he was medically cleared.

Joseph was charged with resisting an officer with violence, battery on a police officer and failure to obey. Attorney information wasn't available.
