Police Identify Elderly Couple Found Slain in Hallandale Beach

Neighbors express concern over double homicide in quiet community

Police released the names of an elderly Canadian couple found slain in their Hallandale Beach apartment Friday as neighbors tried to make sense of the killings.

Hallandale Beach Police said they're investigating the double homicide of 71-year-old David Pichosky and 66-year-old Rochelle Wise, whose bodies were found inside an apartment at the Venetian Park West at 926 Northeast 25th Avenue Thursday night.

The cause of death and motive are still under investigation, police said Friday. Neighbors said the couple are from Canada and come to South Florida for the winter.

The fact that little is known about how the crime happened had some residents on edge Friday.

"I'm very frightened now, really extremely frightened," neighbor Sandy Trapanese said. "It's not that far away and we're on the canal and you don't know how anyone got into that apartment."

"It's actually a threat I think to all the community now and we're gonna have to be more aware now than even before in the past because there's a boardwalk in the back and people do have a tendency to fish back there or walk back there," Gloria Gross said.

Crime scene investigators returned to the home Friday morning.
