Police Investigate Fatal ATV Crash in Fort Lauderdale

Brandon Joyner, 19, of Fort Lauderdale, was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Fort Lauderdale police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that left a 19-year-old ATV rider dead, a spokeswoman said Wednesday.

Brandon Joyner, of Fort Lauderdale was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, said police spokeswoman Detective DeAnna Garcia. 

The crash occurred at Northwest Fifth Street and Northwest Eighth Avenue about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, she said.

A 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe was westbound on Fifth Street approaching Northwest 8th Avenue, when a 1999 Yamaha ATV was southbound on Eighth Avenue.

The Tahoe and Yamaha ATV collided at the intersection.

The driver of the Tahoe, Johnny Lee Anthony, 57, of Fort Lauderdale, was unhurt. 

The crash is under investigation, and charges are pending further investigation, Garcia said.
