Barricaded Man Left Through Back Door, Police Communicating With Him

The man was at 16286 SW 95th Lane

Miami-Dade Police said they were communicating with a man who had been barricaded in a Kendall home after a domestic dispute.

The man's whereabouts weren't immediately clear.

Police said there was a domestic dispute outside the house and the woman called 911. Police arrived and were talking to the man outside the home. At some point, the woman ran out of the house and the man went inside and barricaded himself. Later, he left through the back door, police said.

Authorities said they were in communication with him. The couple has three children, who are fine, police said.

At least two dozen police vehicles had rushed to the scene, along with the Special Response Team.

The man had barricaded himself at 16286 SW 95th Lane in the Monaco Estates. Homeowners in the area weren't being allowed to enter the neighborhood.

Authorities had aimed a spotlight at the front door of the home and yelled through a bull horn for the man inside to think of his kids.

Neighbors said there had been trouble at the home before.

"And I said to my husband, as a matter of fact, I said to Hank 'You know, it seems that this guy is getting more and more agitated.' And look, Lo and behold," said Demaris Haydley, who could not return to her home across the street from the scene.

She said her husband told her he had witnessed the start to the incident.

Finally, police went inside the darkened home and discovered the man was not there. He'd apparently jumped over a fence in his backyard.
