An armed homicide suspect who was part of his brother's funeral procession was injured in a police-involved shooting in northwest Miami-Dade Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The shooting happened in the area of Northwest 17th Avenue and Northwest 76th Street, Miami-Dade Police said.
Officials said the Miami-Dade Robbery Intervention Detail was working with Miami Police on surveillance of the suspect when they conducted a traffic stop.
During the stop, officers shot the suspect, who was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police said the suspect pointed a gun at them. Officials said officers waited to stop the man until bystanders were out of harm's way.
The suspect was later identified as 24-year-old Wadson Sagaille, who was wanted for second-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon and extortion, police said.
Records showed Sagaille has a lengthy history of arrests dating back to 2009, including aggravated assault with a firearm, attempted murder, armed robbery and drug possession.
Sagaille's brother was Reginald Killings, who was shot and killed a few days ago.
