Police Looking for Burglar, Creeper in Miami

Police in Miami are investigating a number of home break-ins involving a burglar who has been caught watching people while they lay sleeping in their beds.

The City of Miami Police Department released a sketch Wednesday of the the man they say committed the crimes.

During one incident, a female victim woke up to find the offender standing near her bed. When she attempted to call police, he fled the scene.

During another incident, the female victim was asleep on the sofa and woke up to the man standing near her. He again fled the scene.

The burglaries have occurred between 27th and 47th Avenues, from West Flagler to Northwest 11th Street. Residents in the area are on edge.

"I know he’s been close here to our house, so it’s scary," one neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said. "We’re worried. We’ve been talking about it. It’s very close.  We’re very close to Flagler. We don’t know what to expect. I won’t be sleeping better until I find out that they already got the guy."

Investigators say the earliest known incident occurred in April of 2014. The most recent was on May 12, 2015, and they usually happen in the early morning hours.

"I work at night," said Frank Castnada. "When I come, it’s like two in the morning. The problem is, when you confront that guy, you don’t know what he’ll do."

Police officers and members of the community plan to meet Thursday evening at Kinlock Park at 455 Northwest 47th Avenue. They will fan out across the Flagami area to hand out fliers.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Miami Police Department’s Burglary Unit at 305-603-6030 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
