Police Make Arrest in Thursday Murder of Northwest Miami-Dade Man

Miami-Dade Police arrested a 28-year-old man they say opened fire on someone who was trying to rob him.

Kellen Gaulden was taken into custody shortly after the shooting Thursday and was charged Friday with second degree murder. Police say he was approached by 19-year-old Devonair Blake near Northwest 65th Street and 22nd Avenue.

Blake allegedly pulled out a gun and attempted to rob Gaulden. After a scuffle between the two, Gaulden was able to take control of the weapon and chased Blake down the street, opening fire and hitting him multiple times.

Blake was pronounced dead at the scene. Gaulden stayed until officers arrived, where he was transported for questioning and later charged.

It's unknown if Gaulden has an attorney.
