Miami-Dade Police are investigating one of the largest marijuana busts in the history of South Florida.

Officials estimate the street value of the pot recovered is about $3.8 million.

Police seized the large amount of marijuana at a nursery near Southwest 200th Street and 169th Avenue.

“It’s a health hazard all the way around,” said Detective Lee Cowart of Miami-Dade Police.

Investigators seized 192 marijuana plants after they say they received a tip about illicit drug activity at a Southwest Miami-Dade nursery.

Video recorded by the narcotics bureau shows the plants, multiple air conditioning units and several electric cables.

Investigators say the fully operational marijuana hydroponics lab was enclosed by a dark screen. Police said that when they responded to the nursery on May 30th, Juan Oliva-Villar ran from the scene.

“He was tending to the structures,” said Det. Cowart.

In bond court, it was revealed that Oliva-Villar surrendered to police Wednesday night and he was arrested.

A judge set bond at $150,000 for Oliva-Villar, as well as a source of funds hearing. She also ordered him to be on house arrest.
