Miami-Dade Police responded to a crash involving a marked police cruiser Tuesday evening.
It happened around 8 p.m. near Southwest 8th Street and Southwest 32nd Avenue.
"I veered to the left so I wouldn't hit the car in front of me, and I couldn't stop because the brakes wouldn't work," said David Merini, driver.
Merini said he was heading home to West Palm Beach after dropping his friend off at the airport when he couldn't stop his car.
"I was scared, jumped out of the car, crawled out," he explained.
"The car that caused the accident was heading eastbound, swerved into the oncoming lanes and side-swiped two cars and two other cars were waiting to clear the intersection," said Alvaro Zabaleta with MDPD.
One of those two cars was a Miami-Dade Police cruiser. The officer inside was transported to the hospital, along with one other driver. Both had minor injuries.

In total, six vehicles were involved and seven people.
Police said Merini was arrested for DUI following the crash.
