Prowler Linked to Cases in Miami Beach, Miami, Coral Gables: Police

Miami Beach Police said they've made a connection between a suspect in a sexual battery in August and the person wanted for a string of similar crimes in the City of Miami and in Coral Gables.

Police announced that based upon DNA evidence collected from the Aug. 18 incident, they believe their suspect is the same man accused of breaking into women's homes as they sleep and watching, even touching them, in Coral Gables and Miami.

MBPD said they will be redoubling their efforts to alert the community and work with other police departments to apprehend the man.

"This is a serious crime. Serious allegations that have been going on for quite some time and we need to end this before anyone else is injured," said Ernesto Rodriguez with MBPD.

Police have spent months searching for the masked suspect, focusing on a specific area in Coral Gables where the majority of the crimes have taken place. They said the suspect leaves behind very little evidence and is always masked.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or white male, possibly South or Central American. Police believe he is between 25 and 45-years-old, and stands between 5'8" and 6'0" and is 130-160 pounds with a thin build.

Police believe he could be responsible for more than 18 disturbing cases involving women. They said women should make sure to lock their doors and windows, and stay vigilant of their surroundings.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
