Police Release New Surveillance Footage of Homicide Suspect

Police have released new surveillance footage of a suspect wanted for a homicide in Cocoa, Fla.

Investigators say the homicide happened at the Dixie Motel late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. An employee at the motel first alerted police to the incident on February 7.

Deputies arrived on scene to find the body of a 65-year-old Ocala man in one of the motel’s rooms. It was determined that Terry Scott Hillard was the victim of a homicide, detectives said.

Hillard apparently checked into the Dixie Motel around 5 p.m. Tuesday with the suspect who’s now on the run.

“We don’t know if it was someone that the victim knew or someone they had just met. Everything is showing us that they were hanging out together at the hotel and during the time just before the hotel,” said Ron McCarron of Cocoa Police.

Detectives tracked down the victim’s abandoned vehicle, which was used as the suspect’s getaway car, at a strip mall in Hialeah Gardens on Northwest 138thStreet. On Thursday morning, he was seen on security video at a gas station on West Okeechobee Road in Hialeah Gardens at around 4:30 a.m.

On Sunday, Cocoa police posted new surveillance footage of the suspect on Facebook. They are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man.

“It’s a while male, average build, dark hair. Possibly 5’7” to 5’10” between 18 and 28 years of age,” McCarron said.

“He should be considered armed and dangerous.”

The victim’s wife said he was in Cocoa Wednesday watching the Falcon Heavy rocket launch. Relatives tell police they have never seen the suspect.
