Police Release Sketch in North Miami Murder

The suspect fled the scene in a dark gray, 2008-2009 Nissan Maxima, according to North Miami police.

North Miami Police have released a sketch of the man they believe is responsible for shooting and killing a 19-year-old on Monday.

Johan S. Ospina was walking in the area of northwest 142nd street and 6th avenue when a male shot him several times. Ospina was transported to Jackson Ryder Trauma Center where he later died from his gunshot wounds.

The suspect fled the scene in a dark gray, 2008-2009 Nissan Maxima, according to North Miami police.

Ospina's mother, who wishes to remain unidentified, immediately drove from her Fort Myers home to Miami when she found out about her son's murder.

On Friday, she gathered her sons things and decided to ask for the public's help in finding the man responsible.

"My heart hurts as a mother, having my son had his life cut short....he had a noble heart he was loved by a lot of people, a lot of friends, he was a nice person," Ospinas mother said through a translator.

Police believe the suspect is 5 feet 9 inches tall and is 20 to 21 years old.

Anybody with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305)-471-TIPS.
