Police Search for Repeat Burglar in Little Havana

Police are looking for a repeat burglar who has been seen at an apartment in Little Havana.

The prowler has been seen at least twice at the apartment at 1351 Northwest 3rd Street, including early Monday and on Oct. 24.

"It's the same person because we saw the video and it's the same person who did it in the first apartment," building manager Ana Cue said.

Cue said the man burglarized one apartment at 2:45 a.m. Monday and was able to get away with a large TV. Police are analyzing video of the break-in, as well as the previous break-in.

"They took the wallets, iPhone, iPad, cash money, important papers," Cue said.

In both cases the victims have been home, sleeping. They didn't realize they were burglarized until they woke up hours later.

"Especially when you're sleeping, you're at your most relaxed state of mind and the last thing you want to wake up to is someone in your home taking your valuables," Miami Police spokesman Freddie Cruz said. "He was navigating the room, walking around the victims as they're sleeping, dreaming away and at any given moment he could have raped the victim or even killed one of the victims."

Cue fears the man is brazen enough to do it again.

"We have to take care and look for the neighbors to watch each other," Cue said.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
