Police Searching For Man Caught on Camera Snatching Chain From Elderly Woman at Pompano Beach Restaurant

Police continue the search for a man caught on camera forcing an elderly woman to the ground and stealing her chain outside a Pompano Beach fast food restaurant.

The incident took place at a Wendy’s off Atlantic Boulevard in late July. The man in question was seen standing outside the building when the victim, 72-year-old Margaret Ghee, exited.

The New York resident was grabbed and thrown to the ground, where the man snatched her chain and fled on foot.

A few minutes before the attack, the suspect spotted Ghee as he walked into the restaurant.

"He notices her right away and actually does a double take when he notices the necklace that she's wearing," said Broward Sheriff's Office Spokesperson Gina Carter.

The 72-year old victim only suffered minor bruises.

"I hope they catch him, I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else," said Ghee from her home in New York.

Officials are looking for a man described as having a medium complexion and short black hair. He was seen wearing a light colored button up shirt and dark pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS and may be eligible for a cash reward.
