Missing 5-Year-Old North Miami Girl Found Safe: Police

She was taken from her uncle's house on Sans Souci Boulevard, according to police

Police said they have found a 5-year-old North Miami girl they were looking for and she is safe.

Jada Velazquez had been last seen with Kimberly Lopez at about 3:45 a.m., North Miami Police said.

Jada was found safe and unharmed at 1:30 p.m., police said.

They said they are questioning Lopez and that charges are pending.

The girl's mother dropped her off at a party at her uncle's house at 1900 Sans Souci Blvd., police said. Lopez and the girl left the home in the early-morning hours, they said.

"It was a party in the apartment and they had an idea that these two, the young child and the adult, left the apartment," North Miami Police Major Neal Cuevas said. "I think they were going to buy a pizza."

A man spotted the pair walking near the apartment just before 4 a.m. Lopez then asked a stranger to drop them off at her home in the trailer park at NE 113th Street and Biscayne Boulevard, according to police. The man did so before alerting them.

Police said they eventually found Jada with Lopez not far from the trailer park.

Another of Jada's uncles, Robert Rosario, rushed over to the apartment complex after hearing that his niece went missing.

"I was scared, I was scared to see anything happen to her, she's a little girl," he said.

You shouldn't take a child without permission or telling somebody that you're taking her somewhere, Rosario added.
