Police Find Stolen Car with 2-Month-Old Baby Inside: BSO

Broward Sheriff's Office have found a car that was stolen from a North Lauderdale plaza with a two-month-old infant inside.

Authorities located the stolen burgundy Nissan Murano near State Road 7 and Prospect Road in Fort Lauderdale. Police say the engine was left running and the child was found unharmed.

The mother of the child drove to 995 Rock Island Road Saturday morning and stepped out of the car momentarily to speak with the manager of a business,  police say.

According to BSO, the mother and the manager were standing on the sidewalk next to the vehicle as a man walked past them. Once the man noticed the car engine was on, he ran to the driver’s side and jumped in the vehicle. The woman’s 10-year-old daughter and two-month-old son were in the back seat. The young girl tried to grab her brother as she rushed out of the vehicle, but was unsuccessful. The suspect drove away.

Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or contact police.
