Police Shoot, Kill Man at Miami Lakes Home

Police said that as they executed a search warrant, the man appeared with a gun, so they shot him

Miami-Dade Police said they shot and killed a man as they executed a search warrant at his Miami Lakes home Wednesday night.

At about 8 p.m. Miami-Dade detectives with a special response team were executing a warrant at 6915 Bottle Brush Drive, and when the team went into the house, the man appeared with a gun, so police shot him, police said.

Police said the Hispanic man was the subject of a longtime narcotics investigation, but they have not yet provided any more details about his identity.

The shooting took place in a quiet, tree-lined Miami Lakes neighborhood with well-tended lawns.

However, Grace Gonzalez, who has lived in the neighborhood for 12 years, said many neighbors were uneasy about the house because they suspected it was a house where drugs were done.

Police are still investigating the incident.
