Police: 2 in Custody After High-Speed Police Chase in West Miami-Dade

A teenager is in custody and a woman is being questioned after the two assaulted an officer, then led police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle early Thursday morning in southwest Miami-Dade.

According to Miami-Dade Police, a white Hyundai Genesis was stolen from a home located at 14761 Southwest 41st Street in Miami-Dade. Officers spotted the stolen vehicle in the area and made a stop. According to police, the 15-year-old male driver stopped the car, but then put it in reverse and hit a tree.

The teen then crashed into a police vehicle, clipping the officer with the car's rear view mirror in the process, then drove off. The officer was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

A BOLO was issued for the car, which officers soon spotted and gave chase.

Police were able to catch the suspects after the stolen car's two tires had a blowout at Southwest Eighth Street and 147th Avenue.

The teen, who is not yet legally old enough to drive, was arrested. His passenger, a white female, is being questioned by police.
