Police Work to Solve Man's Murder in Lauderhill

Police are trying to solve the murder of a man who was found shot to death in Lauderhill over the weekend.

Ezzell Grant, Jr. was found shot in the parking lot at 4129 Northwest 19th Street just before 5 a.m. on Saturday, Lauderhill Police said. He died after he was rushed to a nearby hospital.

There was word around the apartment complex that the 31-year-old Ezzell may have been involved somehow with the transgender community.

"People in the neighborhood were saying that it was a chick. That he was dressed as a woman," one neighbor said.

But at this point, detectives aren't saying much.

"We don't have information from our investigators, as of yet, to determine if his lifestyle had any bearing on the fact that he was murdered," police said.

Police said Ezzell's vehicle is missing. It's a 2013 Grey Dodge Charger with tag: DJA-Y97. It may have been stolen by the gunman, according to police.

"That's why we're asking for the community's assistance. Anyone may have seen something or recorded something. Please give us a call," police said.

Police haven't given information about any possible suspects.

A reward of up to $3,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with info is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
