    Pellet Gunshot Hits School Bus in Liberty City

    A pellet gunshot hit a school bus in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood.

    Authorities are investigating after a school bus was possibly shot with a pellet gun Thursday in northwest Miami-Dade.

    The Miami-Dade Police Department said a pellet from a gun was shot at a bus and broke the glass window in the area of NW 19th Avenue and NW 72nd Street.

    A piece of glass then hit a student's face, but the injury wasn't serious and they were not transported to the hospital.

    Eight were on the bus, which was servicing Miami Central High School at the time, according to Miami-Dade County Public Schools.

    Police said three juveniles were seen fleeing from the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.

    "I am deeply disturbed by this cowardly and irresponsible attack, which could have had catastrophic consequences," Superintendent Alberto Carvalho tweeted. "(Miami-Dade County Public Schools) will work with authorities to fully investigate this despicable act."

    The incident is still under investigation and further details were not immediately available.
