Authorities were investigating a plane crash off Stock Island in the Florida Keys Friday after two bodies were found floating in the water, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office said.
Passersby spotted the two bodies floating in the water around what looks like a plane wreck. The Coast Guard alerted the sheriff's office around 1 p.m., said sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin.
There are no reports of any missing planes in the area, and divers were out trying to figure out what happened.
The FAA and the Florida Highway Patrol were investigating the incident. A FAA spokeswoman said Friday night, quoting authorities, that the wreckage would be salvaged Saturday morning.
The dive site is about a mile off Stock Island.
